Appropriately, 
these memorials are sited on 
the River Mersey waterfront,
 at the Pier Head, Liverpool.


To the Merchant seamen who served 
with the Royal Navy
     
The inscription reads-

THESE OFFICERS AND MEN OF THE MERCHANT NAVY DIED WHILE
SERVING WITH THE ROYAL NAVY AND HAVE NO GRAVE BUT THE SEA.
1939 - 1945

The names are listed around the walls of the monument.

     Dedicated to the men and 
   women who gave their lives
     willingly for the freedom 
       of others, and have no
           grave but the sea.

    "They shall grow not old, 
   as we that are left grow old,
    age shall not weary them, 
      nor the years condemn, 
  at the going down of the sun,
   and in the morning we will
           remember them."

THIS MEMORIAL DEDICATED TO THE MERCHANT NAVY WAS DONATED TO THE PEOPLE OF LIVERPOOL BY THE LIVERPOOL RETIRED MERCHANT SEAFARERS AND HANDED TO THE CITY BY THE RT. HONOURABLE  JOHN PRESCOTT
DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER

SS Arandora Star memorial


IN MEMORY OF THOSE WHO SAILED FROM
LIVERPOOL ON S.S. ARANDORA STAR AND WHO 
TRAGICALLY LOST THEIR LIVES 
WHEN THE SHIP
 WAS SUNK BY TORPEDO 75 MILES NORTH WEST 
OF DONEGAL ON 2 JULY 1940. OF 1,673 PEOPLE 
ABOARD,
 OVER 800 MAINLY NON-COMBATANTS
 DROWNED.

Belgian Merchant Navy memorial


IN MEMORY
OF THE 831 SEAMEN OF THE BELGIAN MERCHANT NAVY 
WHO DIED AT SEA DURING THE SECOND WORLD WAR.

ERECTED BY THE FEDERATION OF BELGIAN MERCHANT SEAMEN OF
THE WARS  1914 - 1918 AND 1939 -1945.        ANTWERP.
